The Mouthbox

The Mouthbox has been part of some work out in the street where I am trying to provoke a reaction in people. I want to make them question the world around them and life that they lead, rather than just conforming to society and accepting things as they are.

I have also created a 5 minute video piece following Mouthbox, which acts as a metaphor for life, death and other points along the way.

I have actually bothered to put some stuff up! I was looking at my page thinking my old work was not really good enough anymore - now I'm into conceptualism and it's awesome :-D Also most of my work at the moment is video based (with some crafty stuff involved) so it's not going up on Deviantart.

MOUTHBOX IS MY FRIEND :-)

Seems you've been on this site longer than me. Very nice gallery btw with a very distint surreal edge to it.

I need to take more photos. Or learn to draw.

Thank you for the nice comment :D

as far as the images/observation/memory/imagination goes, I most often work based on photos when I do commissions for obvious reasons, but I always let myself alter even those after my own liking..

For instance, the wedding piece I'm working on had very dark shadows around the eyes and no highlights at all, since the only light source was the sun which stood very high at the time the photo was taken. I took the liberty of softening up the impact those shadows had, and adding a little twinkling highlight in her eyes to make them come alive a bit.

I do these small alterations on almost every commission I do, and tell myself it's ok since if they wanted an exact replica of the photo, why not just enlarge it? I think my personal little touches adds to the piece as a whole, not being just the kink removal.
